Rtn. Dr. Pranesh Jahagirdar is a Veterinarian by profession and a post graduate with specialization in Rural Development. At present he is serving as Assistant Director in the Department of Animal Husbandry,Government of Karnataka.As a Veterinarian he served in different parts of Karnataka and undertook many activities, which endeared him to the rural community. He has organized hundreds of health camps and training programmes for the benefit of the farming community. Recognizing his services in the field of Veterinary services and the community at large, he was presented with the BEST VETERINARIAN OF KARNATAKA award in the year1995. He has the unique distinction of leading the team from Karnataka at the INTERNATIONAL DOG SHOW held at Chennai in 2000 and 2001.His work for the promotion of the native Mudhol hounds has given the breed international recognition. He has successfully organized three state level Dog Shows in Bijapur. He is also the recipient of Syndicate Bank Platinum Jubilee EXCELLENCE AWARD. The American Biographical Society has conferred him with MAN OF THE YEAR award. His obsession for helping the needy has been acknowledged by numerous institutions & social service organizations with accolades of awards and recognitions. Rtn. Dr. Pranesh Jahagirdar participated in an international workshop and training during August 2001 held at Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok Thailand on Integrated Watershed Development and Management and presented two research papers. He has been accredited as the only Indian representative from government sector having received full fellowship to participate in the workshop. He is a renowned consultant in the field of livestock development through community participation. A very well admired Veterinarian and a small animal practitioner. Rtn. Dr. Pranesh Jahagirdar is instrumental in establishing a Veterinary Polyclinic in Bijapur to provide all the facilities for pet care under one roof, the first of its kind in Northern Karnataka. He is on the panel of the Ethical committee to clear the Postgraduate and other research projects undertaken by the medical students of BLDEA’s Sri B.M. Patil Medical College Bijapur.He is associated with various field studies conducted through MANAGE Hyderabad and DANIDA. He is an Honorary consultant to Shri Siddeshwar Haalu Utpadakar Sangh(R), Bijapur a multicrore organization engaged in dairy development through community participation working in more than hundred villages in Bijapur, Bagalkot and Belgaum districts of Karnataka. His association with Rotary started when he was selected as a GSE team member of R.I.Dist.3170 visiting R.I.Dist.5870 Texas, USA in the year 1992-93. He received an invitation to join Roary in the year 1994. Since then he has maintained a perfect attendance at the weekly club meetings, District Assemblies and District Conferences. He served the club as Secretary in 1995-96 in a proficient way for which he was recognized with Outstanding Secretary of the Dist.3170. His year as the President of the club in 1998-99 was a hectic year with many exceptional and pioneering events like RYLA for Children at Risk, Rotary Peace Conference, RYLA for Blind, Horticulture Seminar, Agriculture Trade Fair etc. He was adjudged as the BEST PRESIDENT of the District 3170 and presented with six other District awards including the BEST CLUB. The club was also presented the most coveted GOVERNOR‘S CUP and prestigious R.I. PUBLIC RELATIONS AWARD. The ROTARY WORLD Magazine published the news of RYLA for Children at Risk as a unique project in the Rotary world. He was adjudged as the Best GGR of the Dist. in the year 1999-2000. As a DCC RYLA (2000-01) he motivated clubs in organizing more than 100 RYLAs catering to all sections of young adults, considered as an extraordinary feat in our district. The Interact movement was strengthened through many programs during his spell as DCC-Interact. In the year 2002-03 he served the district as DCC-GSE(outgoing) and successfully carried out the programme in spite of many intricacies. Serving Bijapur and Bagalkot Revenue District as Assistant Governor during 2003-04, he infused enthusiasm and involvement in all the clubs and saw that 100% of the clubs participated in all the programmes including The Rotary Foundation Annual Giving. During the year 2004-05 he served the District as the DCC for Matching Grants and contributed a lot for streamlining the Matching Grants programme in the District in the wake of suspension of matching Grant projects due to the insistence of stewardship of Rotary Foundation grants. During 2005-06 he served the District as Governor’s Area Aide for TRF and Dist Chair, for TRF Alumni. As Dist.Chair for TRF Alumni, he convened the National Convention of TRF Alumni at Bijapur which was a witness to a large number of alumni and participation from all over India from various Districts. During the meet, District 3170 Alumni website was launched was and released TRF Alumni Directory.For a decade and over, he has served as trainer for PETS & SETS and District Assemblies. He has addressed in Rotary District Conferences, Rotaract and Interact Leadership Forums, Interact and RCC Conferences, Multi District Meets and Intercity Meets. In appreciation of his exceptional services rendered for all the assignments he held, he has been presented with the District Governor’s Excellence Awards. He has been rewarded and recognized as the Most Outstanding Rotarian of R I District 3170 during the Centennial Rotary Year. In July 2002 he visited RI District 1840, Germany as a Rotary Volunteer and served as a resource person for the International youth camp and addressed the farming community, veterinarians, students and Rotarians. His exceptional skills as Rotary volunteer to a developed country has been hailed as one of the unique services rendered and accredited as one amongst the 50 PROJECTS & PEOPLE THAT MAKE ROTARY PROUD by the Rotary News in its 50th Anniversary issue of December 2002. He led the Dist.3170 GSE Team to Dist.4910, Argentina as a Team Leader during 2003-04 in the most befitting way. He has served as project contact for more than fifteen Matching Grant projects including a project costing more than US$145,000. He is recognized with FOUR AVENUES SERVICE CITATION of Rotary International and the DISTRICT ROTARY FOUNDATION SERVICE AWARD of the Rotary Foundation. His relentless service to all the clubs in R I District 3170 and his flawless approach towards serving the human needs of the community through Rotary, yielded fruits when he was nominated and unanimously elected as DG 2008-09 of R I District 3170 at a very young age. He has been associated with many organizations. He is a life member and office bearer of Karnataka Veterinary Association Bangalore, Past Vice Chairman and present Executive Committee member of Indian Red Cross Society Bijapur District Branch, President of Past Students Association of PDJ School - a well known educational institution in Karnataka, Founder Secretary of Bijapur Kennel Club, Dist.Coordinator, Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Bijapur chapter, Life member of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Kannada Vaidya Sahitya Parishat, Institute ofAgriculturalTechnologists Bangalore and a permanent invitee to Mysore Kennel Club, Bangalore, He is a trustee of Shri Pramodatma Go Samrakshana Samshthe which is running a Goshala in a holy place Yalagur which is undertaking many developmental activities. He is rendering service as a resource person to numerous institutions and organizations. He has written many articles in popular magazines and given radio talks on pet Keeping and animal welfare. Rtn. Dr.Pranesh Jahagirdar has traveled extensively all over the world including USA, UK, Germany, Thailand, Argentina, Austria and Switzerland. He is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow. He is married to Ann Sandhya who is a Past President of Inner wheel club and serving in State Bank of India for more than two decades. Pranesh and Sandhya are blessed with a daughter Ms. Rashmi studying in Engineering. |
