District Polio Plus Meet on Nov 2 PDF Print E-mail


           District Polio Plus Orientation and Planning Meet 2008-09,is being organized on 2nd Nov. 2008 from 9 am to 2.30 pm at Lingaraj college central hall, college road Belgaum.
          The designated participants for this district meet are Inner Wheel District Chairman, IP DPPC, DRR, DIR, all revenue district Polio Plus Coordinators, assistant governors, DIOs all revenuw Districts, Club Presidents, corporation/ Munciple Health Officers, SMOs, Unicef's Representatives, Representative of IMA, Indian academy of paediatrics(IAP) Youth Coordinator, District Chairman RCCs.
          Registration is free for all designated participants other interested delegates can attend the meet at nominal registration fee of Rs. 150 only. Being Rotary leaders, all of you are certainly aware of importance of this meeting in planning Polio Plus activities in our district.

Dear AGs / RDCs Polio Plus/ RDCs AFP Survellience / Presidents/ IW Chairperson,
             The eradication of Polio is the priority of the highest order of Rotary International. You will lead your club in the final battle to eradicate Polio Myletis from the world. We have "almost" fulfilled one of the greatest dreams of Rotary international.
            I urge you to concentrate all your efforts in making this one of its own kind dream of Rotary a Reality. Encourage & lead your clubs & district to participate in national immunisation days in your community. Please do not forget that routine immunisation strategy needs to be continued as it is. This is an extremely important step in all the districts where Polio cases are not observed in last few years.
           14 new cases are reported this week for the year 2008. P1 – 2 ( 2 from U.P. ) and P3 12 ( 9 from U.P. & 3 from Bihar). The total polio case count in 2008 is 486 (P1- 55 and P3-431). As on October 18, 2008 



           The status of Polio cases is as under:
                  Year 2006 = 676 wild Polio cases
                  Year 2007 = 874 wild Polio cases
                  Year 2008 = 486 wild Polio cases for the year 2008 (as on October 17, 2008 from 87 Revenue Districts)

          We all are proud to know that Rotary's contribution world wide for Polio Plus Program is US $ 650 million. Even the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have awarded Rotary 100 million dollars which Rotary will match dollar for dollar over 3 years.
          Our beloved Rotarian Dr. P. Narayana Vice President National Polio Plus Committee has kindly consented to guide all the delegates at the district meet and also our Dynamic DG Pranesh is also going to share his experience with all of us. Many PDGs and senior government and district officers will be actively participating in the proceedings of this District meet, I sincerely appeal to all of you to personally see that almost all designated participants from your area will participate in this workshop.
          The workshop is hosted by Rotary club of Belgaum Midtown. Excellent arrangements are done by the club to make this workshop a grand success.
           I wish you all a Very " HAPPY DIWALI " and a " PROSPOROUS NEW YEAR " and also pray to the almighty to give 100% success for Rotary's Polio Eradication Dream so that not a single child should suffer Polio in next DIWALI and NEW YEAR.
