First of all I would like to thank all of you for the confidence reposed in giving me an opportunity to lead this wonderful District. It is my proud privilege to serve Rotary International District 3170 during 2008-09 as District Governor. As we have our voyage together I request you to commit yourself to the cause of Rotary during 2008-09 to serve the less fortunate around us. During the year 2008-09, I want everyone to experience Rotary by participating in all the programmes of the Rotary International.I am of the opinion that unless we participate we will not experience true Rotary. Unless we experience, we will not feel part of Rotary. So let us all join hands to have and give the experience to all those who come in contact with us. For the year 2008-09 our Rotary International President Rtn.D.K.Lee has given us a challenging and most relevant theme to Make Dreams Real. He has challenged us to Make Dreams Real of our Family of Rotary, the community around us and the world children. He has given the areas of service emphasis as Water, Literacy and Health & Hunger. He has asked us to work to bring down child mortality which is estimated at 30,000 per day.We as Rotarians have skills and potentiality which are to be into use to serve. This year we have introduced core team structure at club and a group of clubs level called zone to strengthen the Rotary movement. Education through interactive training progarmme and to continue through Rotary Academy is in place so that every member of the club becomes a true Rotarian. As your District Governor I request each one of you to use; · Club Leadership Plan to strengthen our clubs Let us serve with simplicity and sincerity. As a member of the world’s leading service organization let us feel proud to be Rotarian and wear the Rotary lapel pin with pride. Dr. Pranesh Jahagirdar |
