Dear Dreamers and Achievers, Warm Greetings from Pranesh and Sandhya. We had wonderful festival time celebrating the festivals of Dasara and Deepavali with our family and friends. After the festivals we are again back in action with renewed vigor and enthusiasm to Make Dreams Real. Between the festivals, we had important events like the National TRF Alumni Reunion `GOA – SUVARNA MITRA MILAN` for which our friends from various parts of our nation and neighboring country participated. Listening to the alumni, the GSE team members, Rotary Volunteers, Scholars and Peace Fellows was a rewarding experience .PRID and past TRF Trustee Kalyan Banerjee`s key note address made the event more meaningful. Every alumnus came forward to contribute their mite to strengthen the Rotary movement. It is up to us to make best use of the rich resource available around us. Read more...

THE MISSION OF THE ROTARY FOUNDATION IS to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. It sounds so simple, yet it means so much. It means so much to every one of the people touched by Foundation-supported programs every year - the children too poor to go to school, the families who have lost everything in a disaster, the communities that lack sanitation, clean water, and medical care. The Rotary Foundation-“Make Dreams Real”
November is Rotary Foundation Month, a time to celebrate the generosity of Rotarians around the world who support this great humanitarian effort. If Rotarians like you did not give so freely and selflessly, Arch Klumph’s Dream would not become real. The Rotary Foundation of R.I. began as the inspiration of just one man has now become everyman’s dream. In 1917 R.I.President Arch C. Klumph proposed an endowment with the purpose of “doing good in the world ”He pursued his dream patiently and persistently. Indeed , who could have imagined that the first contribution by the Rotary Club of Kansas City Missouri, U.S.A, the modest amount of US $ 26.50 would lead to one of the most successful humanitarian Foundation in the world ! When Arch Klumph created The Rotary Foundation in 1928 , he said “ We should think of The Foundation as being not something of today or tomorrow, but think of it in terms of years and generations to come. Rotary is a movement of the centuries “ Since The Rotary Foundation was established , it has provided millions of dollars of grants to the projects in the world where Rotary Clubs provide life-saving Matching Grant projects and life changing Group Study Exchange experiences. We can pursue through The Rotary Foundation to “Make dreams Real –by alleviating hunger, promoting education, children welfare, enhancing human development, eradicating Polio and promoting International Understanding. The first Rotary club started with 4 businessmen having a common urge for fellowship, friendship and some social life. I was always attracted towards Rotary as a growing child! My school education took place in rural areas. There was no Interact in our schools where I studied. Finally, I could join Rotaract club during my final college years. It was in 1980, one day I felt sick and I was looking for a doctor, eventually he sponsored me in to Rotary. My childhood Dream was getting real by joining this great organization! I must mention the doctor’s name that touched me, none other than late PDG Dr. Sunil Desai. Over the years the Rotarians thought of doing welfare to the Mankind. In the year 2001-02, it was the captive theme of Rotary ---- “Mankind Is Our Business” and under the leadership of R I President Richard King, the business of mankind flourished in all respects in RID 3170. I was blessed by PRID and then TRF Trustee Kalyan Banarjee, who came all the way to Kolhapur for my installation as the District Governor. |
