Description: Ichalkaranji is an industrial township in India containing a population of almost 300,000 people. The high rate of industrialization has resulted in a flourishing economy that has brought many industrial workers to the area. There are numerous schools for children of the laborers, but unfortunately they are ill-equipped and lack adequate facilities. The Rotary Club of Ichalkaranji Central would like to set up a library for students in five of these schools so that students may benefit from having reading materials in different subjects. Over 4,000 families will benefit per year. Additionally, the local club has dedicated to contributing 25% of the project cost. |

Description: Provide sanitation facilities for young girls at a school in rural India. There are approximately 685 female students who attend classes ranging from elementary to junior college level. Adequate lavatories will positively increase participation in academics and school activities. |

Description: The Rotary Club of Kolhapur Midtown, India and its Rotary Community Corps (RCC) of Swadharnagar are working to meet the needs of disabled lepers in their community. To rehabilitate and better the lives of these individuals, the groups are proposing that a Seva Ashram, a health facility, be built. This building will provide shelter and offer a recreation room and a craft room. Leases are arranged through the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation and the club has dedicated US$4,000 to the project. The RCC of Swadharnagar will be involved in managing the day to day activity at the Ashram. The club also requests the assistance of volunteer English speaking contractors and building consultants. The club will provide a translator during their stay. |

Description: The Rotary Club of Bijapur Monumental City would like to establish a vocational training center for unemployed youth. Since computer education is essential in today’s job market the club would like to provide the necessary technology. It is expected that the center will be able to provide education and training to 300 unemployed youth at a time. Club members will donate US$500 towards this project and volunteer their time to help maintain the equipment and provide initial training. |

Description: Provide safe drinking water to a school in India. The government-run school has no water for either drinking or sanitation. Building a well will supply over 300 children (6-16 yrs) with water, particularly in the summer months, and reduce water borne diseases and drop-out rates. |
