Rotary club of Jamakhandi was Sponsored by Rotary club of Belgaum in January 1960, and was registered in Rotary International HQ at Chicago USA. The GSR was Rtn. Nhani Kapadia. The Club has a reputation as one of the good clubs in Dist.3170 In the 1st year itself, the club got trophy and appreciation by the Dist.Governor for 300 free Eye operations done in the first six months period.
In the following years the club and its members with commitment to fellowship and service, accomplished many projects in providing assistance in community service , conducting Eye camps ,ENT camps, Dental camps, Cancer detection camps, and also blood donation and check up camp.
In vocational service Career guidance talks, seminars and employment exchange registrations are the continuing projects. Recognition of honest public servants and Honoring teachers on Teachers Day. Delivered many prizes and appreciation certificates to merited students and regular faculties.
The club has sponsored Three Interact clubs and a Probus club and also the Innerwheel club for woman which is helping Rorarians in Projects, and also have their own Projects.
Jamakhandi Rotary club has Hosted International guests, GSE members and youth guests form all over World . A senior Rotarian of our club PDG.Rtn.Dr.Girish Udapudi led a GSE team form Dist.3170 to Dist. 5190 in USA for 8 weeks . The Club has provided Two Rotary Dist. Governors to the Dist. 3170 they are Rtn.Dr.Girish Udapudi Rtn.Dr. B.L.Patil The Club will celebrating Golden Jubilee in the next Rotary year and has plans to provide a memorable service project to the community. There is a Registered Trust of Rotary Club Jamakhandi which has a big land which a major project will be taken .
Jamakhandi being a medium size town, lack of major business and industries , the resources are limited , but Rotarians have their own way of supporting and building an image of Rotary in the community .
